Dear voters and supporters,
As a
candidate for Los Angeles City Council District 6, I need your assistance. If
given the chance to be your councilman, I will listen and develop a customer service based agenda for
all city departments and stop the broken promises of my opponent.
My 6-for-6 Core Plan is as follows:
• Serving the Public Interests – Not Special Interests
Pension reform: Pension process to be visible, financially responsible, transparent, and
reasonable. No further unregulated, overpaid city employees. No more subsidies, waivers,
below-cost deals, tax breaks, and other special treatment for politically connected individuals,
public officials, organizations, and businesses. I will aggressively promote and enforce all open
access laws; it is a Constitutional Right to be informed. Accounts, salaries, and benefits of
Office holders will be audited, and if warranted reduced.
• Education and Jobs for the Future
Providing vocational training in existing used structures can create opportunities for jobs and
higher community development. Together with access to education and local businesses will
create positive community spirit, prosperity for employers and employees alike, and society as
a whole.
• Core Services
We need our basic core services such as street and sidewalk maintenance, sewage, and trash to
function and benefit our citizens. DWP (Los Angeles Department of Water & Power) rate
hikes and increases need to be reigned and controlled.
• "Old Town" Van Nuys
We have seen places like "Old Town" Pasadena, North Hollywood's NOHO Art District, and
Burbank's Entertainment districts revitalized, thrive, and prosper. Van Nuys is celebrating its
100th anniversary of being a City. Let's give it the same opportunities to flourish.
• Community Government
I will be accessible, responsible, and participate with Neighborhood Empowerment Councils and
community groups. I will listen and discuss subjects concerning land use, economic
development, and other area issues. I commit to working at redrawing City Council District
boundaries to align with established communities. I will continue my devotion to our
community. I will work for re-establishment of a community court to reduced legal and
administrative costs in minor infraction manners. Minor offenses should not cost the taxpayer
major costs. (For more information:
www.CourtInnovation.org). This will permit our police to
focus on gangs, major crime, and public safety.
• Take Back Our Streets
District 6,
deserves the best that can be afforded and offered. We need
safe neighborhoods. Taking back our streets creates reduction in street-side criminal activity by
rapidly identify problem areas and individuals. Creation of new jobs and education facilities
cause opportunity for success.
I am honored that my candidacy continues to earn the support of many neighborhood council leaders
and local community members. My goals are to make our community a better place to live, work, and
enjoy life. Four more years of lies, empty promises, and inaction from our current councilman will not
bring about the changes our neighborhood desperately needs.
We can improve our community with your help, support and vote.
With a thankful heart and respect to all,
 James "Jamie" Cordaro
